Born on October 14, 1997, in Fountain Valley, California, United States, Lilia Kha-Tu Du Vu, popularly known as Lilia Vu, is an American professional golfer.
She won the Three Bridges Championship, the Garden City Charity Classic, the Four Winds Invitational, and three titles on the Symetra Tour. She also won her first major at the 2023 Chevron Championship.
Early Life and Education
Lilia Vu was born on October 14, 1997, in Fountain Valley, California, United States, to Kieu Thuy and Douglas Vu.
She began golfing at the age of 7. On one of the days she was taken to a golf course with her brother, by her father, Lilia Vu was imitating her brother's swing when she was given a golf club and successfully hit the ball. Ever since that event, she has been golfing.
Lilia Vu attended the University of California, Los Angeles, after graduating from high school in 2015. She graduated from the university in 2019 with a major in Political Science.
Career
In 2015, Lilia Vu enrolled at UCLA, and the following year, she won the Pac-12 Conference "Freshman of the Year" award while representing the UCLA Bruin. Two years later, she went on to win the Pac-12 Conference Golfer of the Year and WGCA Player of the Year. She was also a Honda Accord finalist and ranked number one on the UCLA all-time career victory list with eight individual titles.
Between 2018 and 2019, Lilia Vu ranked first on the World Amateur Golf Ranking and held the position for 31 weeks before bringing it to an end when she turned professional in 2019.
Professional Career
Lilia Vu started her professional career in 2019, finishing T27 at the inaugural LPGA Q-Series and earning status for the LGPA Tour later that year, where out of nine starts, she was able to make one cut.
In 2021, while on the Symetra Tour, Lilia Vu won three titles and made it into the top 250 of the Women's World Golf Ranking for the first time in her professional career. In that same year, she also won the Four Winds Invitational, the Twin Bridges Championship, and the Garden City Charity Classic, while collecting the Potawatomi Cup and its bonus prize money. She was also named the Symetra Tour Player of the Year after finishing the season in first place on the money list. The feat earned her an LGPA Tour Card for 2022.
In 2023, Lilia Vu won her first major at the 2023 Chevron Championship after defeating Angel Yin in a playoff.
