Gustavo Arnal, born in 1970, was an American businessman and the Chief Financial Officer of Bed Bath & Beyond. He died on September 2, 2022, after commiting suicide by jumping from the 18th floor of a skyscraper in New York. 

Gustavo Arnal Early Life and Education

Gustavo Arnal was born in 1970 in Venezuela. 

He attended the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, where he acquired a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering before going on to acquire a master's degree in finance from the Metropolitan University. 

Career

Gustavo Arnal started his career with global consumer products corporation, Procter & Gamble (P&G), as a Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). During the company's merger with Gillette, he worked as the Finance Director of its global Financial Planning & Analysis Department. He was also a one-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Worldwide Fabric & Home Care, a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble (P&G) that specializes in laundry detergents. 

With years of experience already secured, Gustavo Arnal joined the Walgreens Boot Alliance (WBA) where he worked as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the International Divisions and Global Function. 

In 2019, Gustavo Arnal joined Avon, a cosmetics brand, where he occupied the position of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In April 2020, he joined Bed Bath & Beyond, also occupying the position of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). 

Gustavo Arnal Death

On the 2nd of September, 2022, Gustavo Arnal died after falling from his apartment in the 18th floor of the Jenga Tower, an iconic 50-storey building at 56 Leonard street in Tribeca, Manhattan. Upon examination, it was confirmed that he died of multiple burnt trauma and had taken his own life.
