Early Life and Education
MacGyver Mukwevho, popularly known as MacG, was born on November 6, 1988, in Gauteng, South Africa. In 1994, at the age of six, he lost his father and was left to be catered for by his mother alone.
As a result of being born into a low-income family, MacG started learning how to fend for himself at an early age. From fishing and hunting for food to making his own clothes and building his own home, he was determined to fight and overcome his hardships.
Although not much is known about MacG's education, it is at least known that he attended Hyde Park High School.
Career
MacG started his career as a child in 2000 as a host for “Craze,” a television show on eTV. ” He hosted the show until 2005 when he left and embarked on a new career journey as a radio host at a radio station in Guateng named YFM. While working at YFM, MacG started by hosting weekend shows before going on to host shows in the morning and at noon on weekdays.
After making derogatory remarks on gays, MacG was sacked from YFM and in 2010, he joined “947,” a popular music radio station in Johannesburg. He worked at 947 as a host from 2010 up until 2018 when he left.
After leaving 947 radio station, MacG started his personal podcast named “Podcast and Chill with MacG.” Since premiering the first episode of the podcast in July that year, he has since gone on to interview some top personalities in the South African entertainment industry. Some of the top South African entertainers who have featured on MacG's podcast include Nasty C, Big Zulu, Enter, and Zola 7.
As a disk jockey, MacG has been opportuned to play in different shows and events, most notably the MTV Base African tours in Mozambique and Angola, and the after-party of the MTV African Music Awards held in Nigeria.
