Early Life 

Hailey Van Lith was born on September 9, 2009, in Wenatchee, Washington, United States to Corey Van Lith and Jessica Van Lith who both own a custom home building business. Her father, Corey, played baseball and basketball at the University of Puget Sound while her brother was a baseball player for Big Bend Community College. 

Growing up, Hailey was guided on how to play basketball by her father who trained her for at least four nights every week. With time, she started getting better at basketball while drawing inspirations from the likes of Breanna Stewart, Sue Bird, and Diana Taurasi. 


While in eight grade, Hailey Van Lith was made a member of Northwest Blazers Amateur Athletic Union and became the first eight grade student to play for the team. She was also a starter at the Adidas Nationals title game and earned the Adidas All-American honor both in her eight grade and in her ninth grade.   



Education 

Hailey Van Lith attended Cashmere High School in Cashmere, Washington, where she spent four years playing basketball. She also attended the University of Louisville where she graduated with a degree in finance.

Hailey Van Lith is a basketball player even though she once played softball and shortstop while in high school.   


High School Career 

While she was at Cashmere High School in Cashmere, Washington, Hailey Van Lith played basketball for four years, remarkably scoring 14 points in her first match for the team in which they defeated Ellensburg High School. 

During her time in high school, Hailey earned a Class 1A All-State first team honors from the Associated Press (AP). She also won two tournament MVPs in her junior season, and was named AP all-class Player of the Year, The Seattle Times Player of the Year, and Washington Gatorade Player of the Year in her senior season.  



College Career

In November 2019, despite receiving an offer from Baylor Bears, the women basketball team of Baylor University, Hailey Van Lith chose to play for the Louisville Cardinals of the University of Louisville. She made her first appearance in a 74–53 win over Southeast Missouri State, scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. 

As a freshman, Hailey helped the Louisville Cardinals reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament in 2021. She also helped them to win the ACC regular season title and was an ACC All-Freshman Team selection.


In her sophomore year, Hailey Van Lith led her college basketball team to the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA tournament. She was also named the most outstanding player of the Wichita Regional and earned a first-team All-ACC honors. 


In April 2023, Hailey Van Lith transfered from the Louisville Cardinals of the University of Louisville to the LSU Tigers of Louisiana State University who were the reigning national champions. 



National Team Career

Hailey Van Lith first represented the United States in 2018 at the FIBA Under-17 World Cup in Belarus in which she won a gold medal. That same year, she also won a gold medal with her country at 3x3 basketball at the Summer Youth Olympics in Argentina. 

In 2019, Hailey Van Lith represented the United States at Under-19 level at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Thailand and won a gold medal. She also featured at the FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Cup that year in Mongolia, won gold medal with the United States, and was named the tournament's most valuable player (MVP). 


At senior level, Hailey Van Lith represented the United States at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Belgium and the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Austria, in which she helped the team win gold medal.
