  • His real name is Kenny Makweng but he sometimes known as Kenny K. Makweng
  • He was born in 1972 in South Africa
  • Although not much is known about his early life, it is at least known that he was raised in a devout Christian family where going to church was considered very important
  • He started singing at church and at school at a very early age and by the time he was 15, he was made the leader of his church's choir
  • In 1993, he co-founded Nkosana Stocks & Stocks, a popular choir group, and in 1997 he formed his own group known as Kenny Le Masogana A Kgotso
  • That same year, he recorded his debut album titled “Eloi Lamasabathane.” The album was later released the following year
  • He also released his second album titled “Godisa Dithapelo Tsa Rona” and his third album titled “Baruti Ba Melao.” 
  • His group, Kenny Le Masogana, later disbanded but after meeting Paul Mabilo, a producer and keyboard player, he formed another group called Kenny and The Big Brothers

Kenny Makweng was recently reported to be fighting for his life in hospital after previously suffering from brain complications which resulted in stroke. Following his recent rush to the hospital, it was reported that he has been in critical condition at the ICU for over a week and is not responding to treatment.


His close associate, Poet Mzwakhe Mbuli, has requested for prayers on his behalf and many have responded swiftly, with others wishing him speedy recovery. 


He died on January 15, 2024 after battling his illness.
