He died on October 14, 2006, after getting shot by a rival gang near the Kothrud police station in Pune, and till date, his death is the cause of a war among gang members that lasted for years and taken lots of lives.

  • His full name is Sandeep Mohol
  • He was born in 1972 in Pune, Maharashtra, India
  • Although not much is known about his family background, it is at least known that he had a wife, a sister, and a brother whose identity are not publicly known
  • He acquired formal education up till 10th standard before dropping out of school
  • He started out as a petty thief in Pune before rising to become a feared gangstar who was known for contract killing, land grabbing, extortion, and other unlawful activities
  • He was also the leader of the Mohol gang, a known criminal gang which operated in areas like Karve Nagar, Kothrud, Sinhagad Road, and Warje in Pune
  • His gang, Mohol gang, was always in heated rivalries with Marne gang led by the notorious gangster Ganesh Marne. Both gangs fought over supremacy and control of illegal activities in Pune
  • As a result of being involved in activities like extortion, kidnapping, murder, and possession of illegal weapons, he was severally arrested and everytime managed to escape from custody or get bail. Under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), a strict law known to fight against organized crime, he had over 20 cases registered against him 
  • As a result of his political influence and connections he decided to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2004 and ended up being the president of the party's youth section in Pune
  • He died on October 14, 2006, after he was ambushed and shot with his driver and two associates by a group of armed men near the Kothrud police station  
  • His death led to a series of gang war between Mohol gang and Marne gang which resulted in several members of both gangs getting attacked and murdered
