- In November 2023, the dead body of his girlfriend, Margaret Mbitu, was found in a parked car at Logan Airport in Massachusetts and following series of investigations, he was named as the prime suspect of the murder

- On February 8, 2024, he escaped from Muthaiga police station in Kenya where he was awaiting extradition to the United States. He reportedly walked out of the station and boarded a Matatu.
